Work Package 4
Work package 4 will use Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) to identify the combinations of conditions (for example if a local authority is taking a community wealth building approach to spending, like a school buying uniforms from a local supplier even if they are slightly more expensive than buying them from a global company) to explain variations in health and economic outcomes across local authorities because of community wealth building actions.
QCA is a method that finds patterns of conditions that together explain why some cases (in this case local authorities) have an outcome (for example people living longer or healthier lives) and others don’t. QCA will be used to identify combinations of community wealth building-related factors that are necessary and sufficient to bring about health and economic outcomes in Scotland.
